Five Practices of a Fruitful Congregation

is an exciting all church emphasis that I am planning for this fall and I want to invite those who feel called to join the Fruitful Congregation Planning Group. These are the Five Practices of vital, fruitful congregations. These ideas aren’t secret or new, but they are the practices that can lead to our growth and to growth in the life of our church. And they are the practices we will be focusing on for the next several weeks, beginning September 18 and ending November .

Just imagine what can happen if everyone in our congregation will spend five weeks—just thirty-five days—reading, praying, discussing, and focusing on these Five Practices. God can change individuals, entire families, and our whole church—thus changing the difference we can make in and beyond our surrounding community.

CONGREGATIONAL CONVERSATIONS: MOVING FORWARD

Continuing with the format of breaking up into small groups, our post-worship Congregational Conversations will be held the last Sundays of the month on July 31st, August 28th, and September 25th. We will be focusing on a model for church growth and development created by Robert Schnase which essentially answers this question: what are the essential building blocks of the Church?

CHURCH TO VOLUNTEER AT COVENANT CHILDREN’S HOME

A vital part of the Evangelical Covenant Church’s Ministry in New England is The Children’s Home, located in Cromwell, Connecticut. The Children’s Home provides hope and healing for young people and families in a Christian Environment. The Children’s Home has been caring for kids and families in need since 1900. Today, The Home is a state-of-the-art residential treatment center, special education school, and family treatment center.

Joining with friends from the former Concord Covenant Church, we are once again assembling a team of volunteers to perform much needed work on special projects at the Home this summer. Our group will depart from the Ministry Center at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 17th, and return by 3:00 p.m. Saturday, August 20th. For more information please call Rev. Dan at 547-3626.

LEADERSHIP TEAM RETREAT SLATED FOR JULY 9TH

Our church leaders have scheduled Saturday, July 9, as our Leadership Team Summer Retreat. Leaders will meet from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in Christine Hall Conference Room at CMRC for a day of prayer, reflection, team-building, and planning in preparation for the 2011-12 congregational year. Please be in prayer and support for our leaders as we give thanks for their servant hearts!

ANNUAL WORSHIP AT CATHEDRAL OF THE PINES JULY 3RD

Our congregation has once again been invited to use the beautiful outdoor worship space in Rindge at Cathedral of the Pines for the upcoming July 4th holiday. Please not that worship time is at 11 a.m. The address is 10 Hale Hill Road in Rindge, NH. After the service we will be gathering together for lunch and ice cream at Kimball’s Ice Cream.
