Congratulations to Rev. Dan who was awarded the degree of Doctor of Ministry from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in Lombard, IL during commencement ceremonies this past June. Rev. Dan adds the Doctor of Ministry degree to a 1972 Bachelor of Arts degree from Lyndon State College in Lyndon, Vermont and a 1987 Masters of Divinity degree from Bangor Theological Seminary in Bangor, Maine. His Doctor of Ministry thesis was on the subject of "Managing Congregational Transitions: Making the Most of Change."
Rev. Dan is ordained to Word and Sacrament by the Evangelical Covenant Church and has been the pastor of the Greenfield church for the past twenty years. He is also Protestant chaplain of Crotched Mountain Rehabilitation Center and the Greenfield Volunteer Fire Department as well as serving on the Ethics Advisory Committee of Monadnock Community Hospital, the Human Rights Committee at Crotched Mountain Rehabilitation Center, and the Board of Directors of Pilgrim Pines Christian Camp and Conference Center.
Northern Baptist Theological Seminary (often shortened to Northern Seminary) is located in Lombard, Illinois, 20 miles west of Chicago. It is an evangelical seminary, affirming the authority of Scripture, and emphasizing the importance of fulfilling the mission set forth by Jesus of going forth and spreading the Gospel. It holds full accreditation from North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and The Association of Theological Schools (ATS).
The Doctor of Ministry degree at Northern Seminary is a professional, non-residential, program that is designed to enhance the ministry effectiveness of each candidate through practical, relevant seminars, field-based mentoring, and customized learning experiences. The program culminates in a ministry project where theology, theory and methods are integrated in a way that positively impacts one’s ministry setting. The strategic role of the Seminary is to educate leaders for the churches who will be personally whole and spiritually mature, biblically grounded and theologically competent, pastoral, evangelistic and prophetic.
