It’s an important time for the bride and groom, their families and for this church. It should be a special and worshipful experience for all; but more important, your wedding should be the beginning of a faithful life together.
This church is a caring fellowship of Christian believers who will welcome all into its life and support couples in their marriage. Therefore, to all who choose to be married in this church, the congregation wishes to extend an invitation to join in its worship and ministry. The pastor will personally extend this invitation and discuss involvement in this church’s worship and ministries during the first premarriage session.
A wedding ceremony is a worship service. It is a witnessing before God, families, and friends of the beginning of a new life together. In the wedding service, we speak, we pray, we read scripture; sometimes we sing or are sung to, and the bride and groom will make a lifelong covenant to each other. Please refer to the Order of Worship for Weddings to see an example of a typical wedding service.
Jesus went to the wedding in Cana of Galilee as one of His first public ministry acts. Here at the Greenfield Congregational Covenant Church , we take the worship aspect of the wedding ceremony very seriously. Therefore, No photographs may be taken by anyone including the wedding photographer from the "Gathering Words" to the "Benediction". Photographs may be discreetly taken of the bridal party as they come up the aisle and as they return down the aisle. Photographs may also be taken following the wedding as various parts of the ceremony are recreated. The use of audio and or visual equipment must be approved by the pastor before the wedding ceremony.
When planning the invitation list for the wedding, please keep in mind that the church has a seating capacity of 175.
